According to a government statement, Singh said that submission of life certificate is an important activity which is done by the pensioners in the month of November every year to ensure pension. There is a special provision for the pensioners of the age of 80 years and above to submit the life certificate in the month of October.
Traditionally, pensioners had to appear before the Pension Disbursing Authority for physical submission of Life Certificate which was inconvenient for old, sick and weak pensioners. Further, there was no provision in the records of the Pension Disbursing Authority for pensioners to obtain status with respect to renewal of their life certificates.
Singh said that the use of Digital Life Certificate (DLC) is being promoted in a big way to make the life of Central Government pensioners easier. Initially DLC submission was started using biometrics. After this, a ‘face-recognition technology’ was created through Aadhaar, which makes it possible to deliver DLC from any Android based smart phone.
Singh launched the nationwide campaign for November 2022 and urged all pensioners to avail the facility of ‘Face Authentication’ technology.
