The inauguration ceremony of the foundation day ceremony was held in the lawn of Dr. MA Ansari auditorium of the university by the Vice Chancellor Prof. It started with the hoisting of the Jamia flag by Najma Akhtar and the song ‘Yeh Jamia Ka Parcham’ was sung by the students.
The Union Minister of State for Education, Dr. Subhash Sarkar began his address by congratulating the teaching and non-teaching fraternity, students, alumni and all stakeholders. He said, “Since its inception, the University has made innumerable achievements which will remain memorable and important for the nation. I congratulate all of you, it is a matter of great pride that the institute has achieved another milestone.”
The Union Minister said that Jamia is one of the best universities in India. Students, researchers and teachers have consistently excelled in study, teaching, research and other academic pursuits. He said, “I take this opportunity to appreciate the efforts of Vice-Chancellor Professor Najma Akhtar, who is working efficiently for the betterment and excellence of the University.”
Jamia Vice Chancellor Prof Najma Akhtar highlighted the achievements of the university in the last few years. He said that the university appeals to the government to grant approval for setting up a medical and nursing college, which will be useful not only for the region but also for the people living in the adjoining areas like Noida.
The Vice Chancellor said, “Jamia has always taught progressivism, knowledge, unity in diversity. The university always talks about coexistence and patriotism. We have been organizing national and international seminars and conferences on nation building and society and we have created these dreams.” has always played its unique role in realizing it.
The function began with the singing of Jamia Tarana inside the auditorium, which was followed by felicitations of the chief guest and other dignitaries. Pro. Farhat Nasreen, Department of History and Culture, Jamia, Ms. Mirza Shaina Baig and Navi Hassan, students of the University enthralled the audience with their eloquent speeches on the glorious history and journey of Jamia for 102 years.
The Union Minister and Vice Chancellor felicitated 21 researchers from the university who were included in the prestigious global list of top 2% scientists of Stanford University. Twelve research scholars from the university recently selected for the Prime Minister’s Research Fellowship (PMRF), Residential Coaching Academy (RCA), successful students of JMI who cleared the UPSC Civil Services Examination and Prof. Ashraf was also honored on the occasion.
Dr Upendra Giri, the special guest of the function said, “I feel proud to know about the achievements of Jamia in the last 102 years and I am also going back to nostalgia being an alumnus of this institute.” With his energetic address, he inspired everyone to work hard to take the university to greater heights.
Pro. Nazim Hussain Jafri, Registrar, Jamia proposed the vote of thanks followed by the national anthem being sung by the gathering. In the second half, many cultural activities were organized in the auditorium. Ramchandar Jangra, Rajya Sabha MP, Haryana and Prof. Asim Ali Khan, Director General, CCRUM, Government of India, was the chief guest of the programme. Dean Student Welfare Prof. Ibrahim and his team, NSS volunteers and NCC cadets worked hard to make the event a success.
