A 31-year-old man was arrested for sharing on Facebook a screenshot of a tweet allegedly made by Haryana Chief Minister Manohar Lal Khattar. The accused was arrested on Sunday and was later released on bail after joining the investigation.
Surendra, a resident of Maruti Kunj in Farrukhnagar, is preparing for competitive exams. The investigating officer, Inspector Amit Kumar, said, “The accused said that he had seen the post on Facebook and he only forwarded it. He was let off after joining the investigation.”
One of the suspects had forwarded a screenshot of a tweet that was appearing on a Facebook page called HSSC CET. The allegedly morphed post states that by 2024 the chief minister will provide government jobs to the unemployed. On the complaint of an ASI, an FIR was registered against the suspect under IPC section 500 (defamation) and sections 66-C and 66-D of the IT Act at Cyber Crime Police Station, West on Saturday.
