Masks No Longer Compulsory During Air Travel But Is Advisable Government

It is no longer mandatory to wear a face mask during air travel, but passengers should not stop using it. The government gave this advice on Wednesday. The Ministry of Civil Aviation said that wearing masks during air travel is no longer necessary, but passengers should not stop using masks amid the decreasing number of coronavirus cases. Till now the use of mask or face cover was mandatory while traveling in flight.

In a letter sent to the airlines, the ministry said that the decision has been taken in line with the government’s policy of graded approach to COVID management response.

The ministry said, “…in-flight announcements may only mention that in view of the threat posed by COVID-19, all passengers should use masks/face covers.”

The ministry also said that there is no need to announce any specific reference to the fine/punitive action as part of the in-flight announcements.

According to the latest official data, the number of active cases of corona in the country is only 0.02 percent of the total infections. The recovery rate has also increased to 98.79 percent. At the same time, the number of people recovering from corona disease increased to 4,41,28,580. The death rate has been recorded at 1.19 percent.
